A while ago I got two tickets for Eclipse at regal cinema. The first two midnight showings were sold out so I got the 12:03 show. I then found out that they are playing Twilight and New Moon that night before Eclipse. It starts at 6:30. I just got tickets. I'm just worried that since I don't have the 12:01am show I'll have to go out and get back in line for eclipse and I'm afraid that we will get bad seats. it's only my sister and I though so its not like we have to find a lot of seats. Movie theaters typically charged $2 to $3 extra for 3-D movies. But the brisk demand for the premium-priced tickets led many exhibitors to conclude they were still underpriced. About 83% of the record $2.6 billion in ticket sales for "Avatar" came from 3-D and Imax screens. And Walt Disney Co.'s "Alice in Wonderland" also set records when it hit 3-D screens earlier this month. While the new prices could boost theater owners' already buoyant revenues, some industry watchers think they could also spark a consumer backlash. Studios, theater operators, and trade groups have long touted films as a bargain, compared with other forms of entertainment. A decade ago, the average ticket at a multiplex was $5.39, but prices have edged up between 2.7% and 6.1% a year since then, according to the Motion Picture Association of America. "The U.S. economy isn't in the greatest shape, and there is definitely risk here in pushing price too far in a weak economy," said Richard Greenfield, a media analyst at BTIG LLC, who issued a research report Wednesday on the price hikes. Mr. Greenfield said the next month will serve as a test of the strategy. "We'll have a sense if there is any pushback" from moviegoers, he said. Some movie-studio executives expressed concern that the price increases might be too much too soon. "The risk we run is that we will no longer be the value proposition that we as an industry have prided ourselves on," said a distribution executive at one major studio. Other studio executives agreed that the move was risky, but some, like Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution for Time Warner Inc.'s Warner Bros., expressed support. "The exhibitors are trying to push the needle on ticket prices and see where it ends up," Mr. Fellman said. "So far charging a $3 or $4 premium has had no effect on consumers whatsoever, so I'm in favor of this experiment to raise prices even more. There may be additional revenue to earn here." The only movie theater i have ever really gone to was the galaxy theaters. i like how they have the latest projectors and sound systems and they usually keep their building really clean, but the sad thing is their not everywhere. i went to regal a while back to see "meet the spartans" and "punisher warzone". i went to this theater cus my dad won free passes for this place and i wanted to check regal out. My twin sisters who go to college in New York City told me they went to see a movie "The Changelling" starring Jolie. It was at a Regal Cinemas in NYC. A homeless guy in the seat towards the front row was talking to himself without having the intention to stop talking during the movie. A man sitting in front of him got pissed (was swearing) and was telling the guy to shut up. He whirled and punched the homeless guy square in the face. After the movie ended, the girls were walking out and witnessed the homeless guy being taken away by authorities. The audience that left the theatre were telling the authorities to arrest the other guy (the man who punched him during the movie). I wasn't there, but my twin sisters told us this story during the time my family and I visited them in NYC. I went to the HARRY POTTER film with two friends and nobody was screaming out loud any spoilers. more

I have two job interviews scheduled for today for my very first job! I applied at like at least 30 places, and two called me back. The first is for an amusement park called Kings Island and it starts at 5:00, and the second is for a movie theater called the Regal Cinema. and it starts at 6:30 It'd be nice to work at either place, and I really want either job, but I am SO nervous! I plan on wearing my hair half up, half down (it makes me look like a third grade teacher, actually), light makeup (which is weird cause i usually wear very heavy dark makeup), my smallest nose ring (you couldnt see it unless you were looking for it, and im not sure if it's against the dress code, so im just covering myself), I switched out my gauges to just big pearl earrings, im wearing a black polka dotted dress that comes to my knees, and a nice little white sweater over top. All in all, I think I'll look alright, but I have like NO other dress-y clothes so it'll have to do regardless. I'm only 16 but i'll be 17 in less than a month, and I am the bubbliest, most obnoxiously friendly person you'll ever meet. Do you think I have a shot? If you go to a Regal cinema or likely any other cinema you get this weird "ad" before the movie. It asks you to turn off your cell phone but the way it's made up with the relaxing music, monotone voice and what appears to be a voice that you can't quite make out in the background I think it's subliminal hypnosis. I went to Regal Cinemas yesterday to watch the new Bond movie with my boyfriend, we were seated behind a couple and their infant. During the first half hour of the movie M tells Bond he needs to sleep and then they show Bond in one country one day and in another country another day. Right before he jumped between countries the infant began to cry and the mother took him out of the theater. After the jump from one country to another my boyfriend turned to me and said when does he sleep? After he said that the man in front of us turned around and said, "What the f*** did you just say?" He proceeded to stand up and come to our row, we were in a short row and the only people sitting there. He told my boyfriend to come outside with him now so they could fight. We tried explaining that we were talking about the movie but he acted out of control and leaned over me (I was sitting closest to the aisle) to grab my boyfriend by the collar and pull him out of his seat. I automatically threw my arms up to try to keep myself protected and push him off of my boyfriend. At one point I asked him what he thought he was doing and he proceeded to punch me in the face. I then stood up and pushed him before walking out into the aisle and down the steps to leave. At the bottom of the steps there is a space between rows that I thought was the exit because it was so dark. When I realized it wasn't the exit I turned to leave and apparently the guy had followed me to the bottom of the steps and he hit me again. I finally got out of the theater and went to get someone from there to get him and call the police. When I walked back towards the theater the guy was in the hall with my boyfriend, who was on the phone with the police. My boyfriend tried keeping him there while I got my coat and purse but when I got back to the hall the guy had disappeared out a side door. Fortunately he had friends there who told the police his name and phone number, after being threatened. One of his friends told the police that I had hit him and he just pushed me off of him. Of course, they didn't believe her. I am pressing charges against the guy for assault and the like. I'm asking this question because I'm deeply disturbed by what occurred. The guy was so out of control that I believe if he had a gun or knife someone would have been injured further than a few bruises and a swollen lip. Not only does the theater not require you to go through metal detecters to prevent such things they also don't have security on duty. I believe that they should hire security at the very least for instances like this because if that guy hadn't had friends there he would be getting away scott clean. The theater doesn't even have cameras in their actual theaters only in the hallway. Nothing was caught on tape except the side of his face as he was leaving. Several people have told me I should go after the theater to try to prevent matters such as this. When they are charging us so much money the least they can do is make sure we can feel safe while we are there. I know I won't be going to the theater anytime soon regardless of how rare something like this is. I just want several people's opinion on this so I know if I have the right to try to see this through and make them put these measures into place to prevent anyone from being injured or attacked because of a simple misunderstanding. You know I agree with all of the answers thus far, I don't believe the movie theater should be held responsible for an individuals behavior. I'm just horrified at the thought of it happening to someone else and going to an irreversible place. (I.E. someone ending up stabbed or shot.) I'm not trying to sue the theater, I don't feel they did anything to me. They refunded our money and that's the most I wanted from them. I just think that they should take more precautions because they are dark theaters far from any sort of personal. It took them at least 5-7 minutes to have a manger outside of the theater -after- the fight was reported. And thank you to those who asked, I'm fine. A little shaken up and a little bruised but no major damage. more
