Open Question: What are some fun things to do in or around Albuquerque New Mexico?

I just discovered two of my favorite bands are touring together in August (Porcupine Tree and Coheed and Cambria), the only way this tour could be more amazing to me is if Dream Theater was with them as well. Sadly however, they won't be visiting Colorado (where I live) and the closest they will come is Albuquerque New Mexico. I am contemplating going to see it, however the drive down to Albuquerque will take at least 7 hours. I think it's worth that long of a drive because I love both bands and doubt I will get another chance to see them together again. I also think it would be fun to just go on a road trip before I go to college. Anyways, there's no way I'd go if I had to go alone, I'd like to have at least 2 or 3 friends go with me to see it. Although most of my friends like at least one of those 2 bands, I don't know if I can convince any of them to drive 7 hours there and back just to see one concert. What are some other great things we can do do around Albuquerque so I can more easily convince them to go? (not things like bowling, movie, etc, things you can't really do elsewhere) Me and most of my friends are into rock climbing. We haven't been doing it long and don't own/use ropes, we climb simpler things. Are there any good sites around Albuquerque to do some climbing? Especially places like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vedauwoo ? I might be able to justify it to them if there's any awesome places nearby like that we could visit. Open Question: I would like more suggestions on trying to find friends?

Hello. I am 14 and still trying to find friends, and it is trouble. The kids in my area are probably not the best as in behavior and maturity levels. It seems I've been left out and picked on because of my weight (which i am fixing), or because I don't have the same interests as them. (probably) School's out for Summer, but there is nothing but movie theaters and malls, and lots McDonald's and Wal-Mart's within footsteps, but I doubt anyone goes there. Quite a few of the Summer Camps the area offers has swimming, which I am uncomfortable doing. I would join a sports team, but we are on a limited income and maybe also because of my weight. It would just be nice to have someone who has the same interests, and could come and play video games or something like that I guess. Do you know of any clubs or something like that? But anyway, do you people have any tips I could use? Thanks more

Open Question: Parents; Did you know this about the movies?

I took my family to see Toy Story 3 today. This is a big deal for us because I never take all of my children to see movies, it has got to be something really great like a Pixar that everyone will enjoy. Anyway I have 2 boys 10 and 7 and twin girls 15 months old. I was told (on our way into the theater) that I would have to go back and purchase tickets for my daughters! Cinemark has a policy that any child over the age of 12 months must purchase a ticket! Here is my qualm: my girls cannot sit in a movie theater seat even with a booster. And 15 minutes into the movie they will be asleep anyway. So my theory is because of all this theatre jumping and movie piracy going on, us regular, everyday families who follow the rules are getting stuck with the theatrer's security bill. As if they did not already have enough ways to stick it to our pocket books e.g. 4.00 for a 20 oz bottled water. My question is: does your movie theatre practice this as well? If so, do you still frequent the theatre? more

Open Question: What is the thought process of an inconsiderate person?

I am not claiming that I am perfect but I honestly cannot understand how some of my fellow human beings can be so damn rude. You know the type: These "charming" individuals cut in line, yap in movie theaters, let their kids scream and cry in public and allow their animals to crap on their neighbors' lawns. An example of what I am typing about can be seen in one of my step-sister's roommates. This man [or group of people] blast obnoxious music at 3-4 A.M. from what I have heard. Their stereo is so loud, it wakes up my step-sister's two young children. My step-sister, her boyfriend and this guy used to be friends but once they asked him to turn down his music, he became rude. I am not there, so to be fair, I am only hearing her side of the story. Regardless, though, situations like this exist. A countless number of us has had to deal with jerks throughout our lives. These people wouldn't like it if they were woken up late at night or early in the morning with music blaring, so what makes them think that anyone else would? How can some folks not care about the impact they have on others? Does intelligence play a role? In other words, are unintelligent people less likely to be mindful of their actions? Edit: Blasts. A city that has tons of things to do (concerts, ballet, theatre, shopping, museums, etc). Weather that is not too cold or too hot and no hurricanes or tornadoes. Affordable places to live. Pretty much my top priority is weather though. I don't like snow or cold temperatures but I don't like extreme heat either. Open Question: Crying and shrieking kids at movie theaters ... why not leave them with a babysitter?

I'm 20 years old and like many people, I was dying to see the newest Toy Story film. The one thing that bugs me though is parents who bring along their 3 year old kids that cry and shriek throughout the film. I understand it's considered to be more of a kids film, but to me it's just rude to bring a loud kid to the movies. You're better off leaving them home with a babysitter until they're a bit older where they can stay quiet. And if you honestly can't find a babysitter, don't come to the movies. That's what I'd do as a parent. What do you guys think? You agree parents need to leave loud kids at home for the movies? Praying for a miracle: I was actually a very good kid. I have an excellent memory of my very first movie that I ever went to the movies (an adult movie ... I didn't even pay any attention). I believe I was 4. I can remember talking a little bit at the very beginning, but as soon as my dad whispered "you need to be quiet. People are trying to hear the movie" I didn't speak the rest of the movie. I was accepted into UC Irvine's Drama department. I love acting, singing, dancing, and I have such a big passion for it. The more I thought about it though I had to be realistic about it. I don't have as much training as many of the people that enter this competitive major so I switched my major to English.. I like writing but probably not as much as theatre.. I'm a transfer student so I can't change my major again. I could try to double major but I don't know if I can for various reasons. Did I do the right thing? Being more realistic? Open Question: What has happened to movies?

To start off, I'm a 13 year old girl. I just got home from watching Toy Story 3. It was TERRIBLE (in my opinion). The first Toy Story was MAGIC. The second one was at least decent. It seems like they didn't even try on the 3rd one. The story went way to slow, and some parts were even so scary parents had to remove their young children from the theater. The best parts were the parts that referred back to the older moves (like where the aliens say "the claw"). The same thing happened with Shrek. The first one was so amazing. The second one was okay. The third one ruined it when he had kids. The forth one was just stupid (bringing in characters that weren't even mentioned before). I'm so ashamed of these movie industries. Where did it all go wrong? It seems like when I was a littleun' all these great movies came out (like the original Shrek and Toy Story). Now it seems like these companies are out of ideas so they just reuse old material and end up ruining the whole series. The last childrens' movie that was even decent was Wall-E. It was different and not something they'd done before. I feel bad for the children today. They won't get to experience the same magic that I did when I was younger, when most of the last truely good childrens' movies came out. It saddens me to think that if the children watch the older movies, they'll see that they just don't make movies like they used to. I think Toy Story 3 was okay, but it just didn't have that magic it used to. It seemed like they got out of character (especially with Andy). The ending would've been okay, but I personally would've rather seen him save those toys for his children, not just some stranger he hardly knows. That didn't match up with when he said they were special to him. I think that the last part, with Woody, was amazing. Where he said "Good bye, old pal". Why couldn't the whole movie have been like that, like it used to be. What's happened to movies these days? It seems like they just don't make good ones anymore. more

So I'm going to become a sophomore in high school in September and need advice on what improvements i need to make to get into a good college/university. My choices include: UCLA NYU USC Northwestern Syracuse BU My GPA weighted is 3.8 which is pretty good in my standards! but i do have to improve it. The classes that im scheduled to take this fall is: Health/Art Earth Science English 2 Algebra and Trig. Open Question: Lyrical/Contemporary.... which would be better and what level?

This year, I really want to take either lyrical or contemporary because my ballet teacher recommended I take one. She said that I was very expressive. I've done 2 years of musical theatre (would that count as jazz?), 2 years of ballet, and one year of hip hop. I realize I'm not very experienced and will never be a professional dancer, but I really want to try them. The thing is, a lot of the bronze lyricals seem so boring. I'm a very energetic person. I want to do complicated combos and leaps and basically just throw myself around. I want to challenge myself. But if I sign up for a higher level then I am capable of, I could completely fail and feel sad. So what do you think I should do? Should I take a few more years of ballet before I try lyrical/contemporary? And if I should take them, should I take a beginner class or try silver (which is above bronze)? more

Open Question: How can I get 5.1 audio out of an Imac for my home theater?

I have a Bose Lifestyle Home Theater system (http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/home_theater/51channel_systems/component_systems/lifestyle_v_class/index.jsp#manuals) witch is a 5.1 sound system, and this is what I am planning to do. I have a new Imac (http://www.apple.com/imac/features.html) and I want to connect it to my Bose Box. The Bose box has HDMI ports witch u can see if you look at the pictures. I am going to buy a Mini DVI to Female HDMI cable, then a longer HDMI Cable to connect it to my HDTV. The only problem is, I want 5.1 sound quality. Open Question: I need Help!!!! I need some acting help!?

Okay, So I asked about how I can become better at acting. I got the answers and I did my homework. The local theater won't accept me because i am not apart of Mrs. Kathy's theater group. To be apart of her theater group I have to pay 50 dollars a week!!! I can't do that. It is summer, so I can't join a school drama club. I am switching school so I am hoping my skool nxt year has one! I haven't been able to get any expirience at all! I am wasting my summer! What can I do to still get some acting practice? more

Well Ok I just turned 15 and looking into a theater group I've found one and I'm going to phone it up tomorrow! I'm quite shy and get very embarrassed very fast :( I lack in confidence and have low self esteem, and this is one of the reason's why I want to do this I want to overcome this fear and also get better at acting because it's something I'm interested in :) Although I have no experience in acting & although I'm quite shy I believe I can improve and get much better! So my question's to all of you are ... • Do you think my shyness/confidence will improve by doing this? • Do you believe my acting skills will get better? • Do you think if I join a theater group at the moment I might have and a chance of an acting career in the future or am I to old? (And for all the people out there who are thinking "Ugh .. not another poor soul who thinks they can make it big") or whatever .. it's not the case it wasn't my dream to become a well known actress or anything I actually want to become a hairdresser but I'm just looking at this as something I possibly might do :-) So thanks for every ones answers! Open Question: Does ANYONE know where I can watch the Tim Burton 'Alice in Wonderland' movie on the computer?

Alright, to begin with, I have been dying to see this movie for ages! Ever since it came out in theaters. But I was never able to see it because my bloody brother never wanted to see it, and so, because of that, I couldn't watch it at all! Now, I know this one website where I was supposed to be able to watch the entire movie. But instead, I was able to see the first 47 minutes of the movie in the first part before it cut me off for no particular reason! When I tried to click on the second part, I ended up getting this notice to do some weirdo quiz and download something in order to see the second part. Now, I don't like downloading foreign programs into my computer because they might have a virus or whatnot, so I didn't do it. So, does anyone know where I can watch the movie WITHOUT having to do this stuff? And don't say Youtube, because I've checked and all the links given on Youtube lead to the website I mentioned. more

Open Question: Am I getting the best audio from my home theater system?

I have several game systems (PS3, Wii, PS2) connected to my DVD recorder through the normal 2 channel red and white audio cables. Then that DVD recorder is connected to my Home Theater System through an optical digital audio cable. I get surround sound from them all just fine, but I'm wondering if I'm getting the best audio from them or if I should get an optical audio switcher and connect them individually. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. more

Every time we go to the movies, my friend suggests we theatre hop and see as many as 3 other movies. Sometimes, my other friends will listen in on these conversations and get in my face over my refusal to break the law.
